How To End Discrimination?

How time flies! I was on leave the whole of last week and it was great. I got to catch up on my rest, watch a few movies and worked out every single day.

Guess what else happened last week? I was the celebrity emcee for the Pre-Awareness Program for HIV/AIDS last Friday which was held at UPM's Medical Faculty. This seminar has only one main goal. To educate medical students on what HIV/AIDS is.

 The first year medical students.

It's upsetting to hear from Dr Masliza that there are still doctors and nurses in our country who discriminate upon those who are diagnosed with HIV. Not only was her intention to shed some light to the first year medical students regarding HIV and AIDS, she was also there to educate the students about the stigma and every day discrimination these people had to live with for the rest of their lives. Here are a few pics on what went on.

Having a chat with the VIPs.

Here I am, giving a speech on what this event means to me.

Besides that, there was also an executive from the Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC), Norlela Mokhthar who spoke about what she has been through after finding out that she was HIV positive and to also let the students know the role society plays when dealing with people living with HIV.

Here she is again educating the students about HIV/AIDS.

I must say that after three years of  doing this event, it is still one of the most meaningful event ever. Did I also mention that Dr Masliza is hot?

Yup, that's Dr Masliza

Hottest doctor ever!

Hybrid Car= Car + Something Else (According to My PA)

Macha, you would not believe what my PA asked me the other day. She doesn't know the difference between an electric car and a hybrid car. Then I realized that there are a number of people of there who has no clue about these two types of cars  so, I’ve decided to shed some light on the difference of both types of cars..

So, what exactly is an electric car? Electric cars are totally electric, meaning that they must be plugged in and charged, and that the range of the car is only as far as the charge while a hybrid car uses a mixture of petrol and electric power to create a gas efficient-partially electric car with a less limited range.

Let's start off with the pros and cons of a hybrid car first.

Toyota Prius

Pros
- Green cars have lower emissions than traditional cars and use power sources that either occur naturally or reduce the need for petroleum.

-If your frequent commute involves the stop and go traffic found in major cities and heavily populated areas, then you will quickly see the gas benefits of these vehicles. This is because the gas engine of hybrid vehicles shuts off when you are at a red light and the electric motor kicks in once the gas pedal is pressed.

- Green cars have its intelligence to switch to the more optimal motor, which will give our driving speed, thus, helping us save on gas mileage.

- These eco-friendly cars help us keep our environment clean and green, reducing tailpipe toxic emissions by about 90% and 50% less greenhouse gas emissions

Look at all the benefits above yo. As you know, there will also be some disadvantages to these environmentally cars ‘cause nothing is perfect. No, you don’t have to google it. I’ll list them all out for you.

Cons

- The first disadvantage that you may learn of when considering a "green" vehicle is the cost. Environmentally friendly vehicles are usually thousands more than traditional vehicles, which may make their upfront costs unaffordable for most of us.

- They are also very high maintenance. This is because repair and replacement parts for these vehicles are expensive. Plus, the advanced technology prevents these vehicles from being repaired at the average garage.

- There are also some concerns regarding one’s safety in a hybrid car such as the high voltage required by a hybrid car’s battery could prove dangerous in a collision if wires are exposed.  Also, the light weight of some hybrids may concern potential buyers who fear these types of cars would not fare well in a collision.

How Much Hair Can One Girl Have?

If you were at Sunway Pyramid's ice skating rink this morning, you would've noticed a fine, sexy and hairy man skating around in a purple tank top and a matching mini skirt. Say what? Yes, you read right. And if you think you saw me skating in that cute purple outfit, I'm sorry to say that..... you were right!

So, what do you think? Sexy?
Look at the kids behind marvel at my beauty.

It's not what you're thinking. It was a dare submitted by one of our listeners for the Maggie "Call Me Crazy" contest and the dare was for me to ice skate in a tank top and mini skirt for half an hour. I was a bit nervous and excited at the same time as I have not skated in a very long time and there was a lot of people there. But as soon as I got onto the ice rink, I was having so much fun that I forgot I was actually dressed up as a girl.

And guess what, I still have some moves yo. I only fell once and even managed to skate backwards, did a full turn and skate with one leg. Watch my videos below to see me transform into a graceful ice skater. Enjoy!

The Mood Spoiler During Raya Haji

I know this came a bit late but... Selamat Hari Raya Haji! I bet all of you had lots of yummy food like rendang and lemang. I know I did!

I was on air all by my lonesome self yesterday and I thought that since it's a public holiday, I'll treat myself and the Pagi Show producer, Laila, to an early breakfast. I heard so much about KFC's AM breakfast and I've yet to try it so I decided to have it. So, I asked my PA< Shereen to get me some.

She went to the one at NKVE and ordered the set meals and was told to wait 10 minutes. She sat down and saw two men on the table next to hers enjoying their breakfast. They were savoring every single bite. Look below to see how she managed to secretly snap a picture of them.

Anyway, after 10 minutes, she was asked to head over to the counter to proceed with the payment. As she took out some money, she told the guy behind the counter that she wanted a receipt. Macha, you would never believe what he told her. Here's a short transcript of their conversation:

Shereen: Please issue me a receipt, please.

KFC Dude: Sorry. Our system is not on, no receipt.

Shereen: What? I need a receipt.

KFC Dude: Ok la. You wait 20 minutes.

Shereen: I can't. I'm rushing. Issue me a manual receipt then.

KFC dude then walked away and spoke to his manager. At this time, she heard the manager say, "Ish, apalah!". Upon seeing her and realising that she heard him grumble, the manager walked to the store room and hid there.

In the end, she got her receipt but she was definitely not a happy camper. When she saw me, she complained about it to me 'cause she didn't understand why was the system not turned on when they were operating a 24-hours restaurant. It's a little weird isn't it? So, tell me. Have you been through this situation before? Do share with me on what happened k?

The menu in the restaurant. Look at the computers on the counter. They were obviously not turned on.

Shereen got bored while waiting that she decided to draw faces on the windows

Here it is. The picture of the computer screen. Look at the other one on top too. They were both blank.
